Since the tragic events in Newtown, we have seen a steady stream of legislative proposals that do nothing to address the real problem: violence resulting from criminal access and misuse of firearms. At Ruger, we believe the focus should be on strengthening our nation's mental health care system and improving the quality of the information in the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), which is used by licensed retailers to ensure that a purchaser is not prohibited from buying a firearm. This is why Ruger supports the National Shooting Sports Foundation's FixNICS campaign.
