Ruger® LCR™ Named 2009 "Handgun of the Year" by the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence

(NYSE-RGR)is proud to announce that the new Ruger® LCR™ (Lightweight Compact Revolver) has won the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence "Handgun of the Year" award for 2009. Having won this coveted award last year for the Ruger LCP™, Ruger is honored to have been recognized yet again for innovation and excellence in new product design by members of the firearms community. The award was presented during the 7th Annual Shooting Industry Masters in Windsor, Connecticut on July 24th.

The Academy, a 500-member group consisting of manufacturers, editors, writers, distributors and retailers from within the shooting industry, votes to honor outstanding achievements in product design and service to the industry. "For two years in a row, the engineering efforts at Ruger have been recognized by industry leaders for the significant impact they have had on the firearms market," said Ruger President and CEO Mike Fifer. "The LCR represents a significant breakthrough in revolver design, and to have respected firearms experts honor that accomplishment is gratifying for all of us here at Sturm, Ruger."

The 5-shot, .38 SPL+P LCR incorporates many high-tech features, including a polymer fire control housing, aircraft quality aluminum monolithic frame, extensively fluted stainless steel cylinder, and uniquely engineered trigger. But what do all of these technical advancements mean for firearms owners? "This gun will absolutely sell itself if consumers are able to do three things: pick it up, try the trigger, and take it to the range and shoot it," said Vice President of Sales and Marketing Chris Killoy. "When they pick it up, they'll notice the gun is surprisingly lightweight and the Hogue® Tamer™ grip is very comfortable.
